Want To Earn Your True Worth?

Want To Earn Your True Worth?

– By Dr Nav Ropra.

Are you tired of producing more income only to work harder, spend more and realise that you are still not financially free?

Do you see your colleagues doing more, having more and being more than you financially?

Are you tired of comparing yourself to the fantasy that the grass is greener on the other side?

Be warned!

With increased levels of income, comes a new set of accountabilities and responsibilities which need the additional skill set to manage.  If you do not have the same appreciation of self worth to match your income, the money can come into your hands, just as fast as it leaves you.  This can lead to greater job dissatisfaction, poor quality of care and ultimately depression by comparing your current reality to your desired fantasy of how life should have been like.

The financial pressures of running a dental practice can sometimes spill over into patient care and personal relationships can  become strained.

If the finances are not managed properly, this can lead a downward spiral of events such as; complaints, relationship problems, and ultimately may cause health problems due to the additional stress, anxiety and worry.

‘With increased levels of income, comes a new set of accountabilities and responsibilities which need the additional skill set to manage.’

If you have not saved routinely, tax planned adequately and your income does not support your lifestyle you may find out that you have more time on your hands then money.  Without having sound knowledge on managing wealth, savings and investments, are you living in a fantasy delusion that one day things will be ok and that day never comes!  Although the management of finances is just as important as other parts of the dental course  is it something that is yet to be taught at dental school and the majority of us learn as the years go by with trial and error.

If you are feeling down about your current financial reality, then remember; ‘there is never a crisis without a blessing.’

Ask yourself, what are the blessings of losing the deal, not going ahead with a new practice venture or not hiring another associate or staff member to earn you more?  Keep asking this question in all 7 areas of your life until you see the financial situation as balanced and that nothing is missing.  Look at what you are grateful for having, rather than focusing on what you don’t have financially.  The extra care from friends or family, the extra time you have to plan your next venture, the greater appreciation from patients.

If you are able to balance out your perceptions then you are in a better position to understand the message that you received from the experience and plan better with a strategy rather than emotionally react.  One of the most financially astute persons Warren Buffet has said;

‘Don’t expect to manage money until you can manage your emotions.’

To manage your emotions, balance out the lopsided perceptions that you have around finances.

Some of the greatest and wealthiest people on the planet have a cause that they are dedicated to. They are able to relax and visualise clearly what it is that they would love to do. Being grateful, loving, certain and having presence attracts wealth into your life.

‘Look at what you are grateful for having, rather than focusing on what you don’t have financially.’

If you give someone a present, and they don’t thank you, then you may not want to give them another one.  Why would the Universe give you more wealth if you are not thankful for the wealth that you already have and not have a clear defined purpose of what you intend to do with it once you have it?

Be grateful for the finances you have and watch what happens!
